Experiencing nature’s rebirth in another destination is as thrilling as seeing the daffodils rise in your own garden. But you’ll want to book ahead – way ahead – to walk in awe of the floral fantasia of Sakura, the cherry blossoms of Japan.
In Tokyo, the gardens of Shinjuku Gyoen offer thousands of pink and white blossoms; in Osaka, Kema Sakuranomiya Park features a scenic riverbank lined with cherry petals; in the north, Aomori’s Hirosaki Park is known for its 17th-century castle surrounded by blooming trees; and on Hokkaido, Matsumae Park has 10,000 cherry trees in flower.
Sakura season is short (mid-April to early May) and extremely popular. Book now for 2026, or plan ahead for 2027. Closer to home, look for cherry blossom festivals in New York’s Central Park, Washington, D.C., Boston, Portland, and Vancouver.
Spring travel isn’t just about flowers. Sunny ski days with soft snow and mild temperatures are one of the season’s best-kept secrets. Choose high-elevation, snow-sure resorts and book early to secure off-peak pricing and excellent accommodations with my help. Consider Lake Louise and Sunshine Village in Alberta, Canada; Big Sky Resort, Montana; Arapahoe Basin and Aspen (for the glam!) in Colorado; Mammoth Mountain in California; and Val d’Isère and Val Thorens in France.
Spring is an ideal time to visit Morocco, with comfortable temperatures and fewer crowds. In Marrakech, the city’s gardens are in full bloom, and the markets are lively without being overwhelming. The High Atlas Mountains offer excellent hiking conditions, with trails lined by blossoming almond and cherry trees. This season is also ideal for exploring the Sahara before the summer heat arrives.
But if you’re ready for beach season to begin – head to Costa Rica. Spring catches the tail end of its dry season so visitors can stretch out on the sand along both Caribbean and Pacific coasts. Escape the crowds and get in some good surfing on the black sands of Playa Negra, or discover a livelier scene on the white shores of stunning Playa Conchal.
Next spring is just around the corner. Think ahead and plan your spring travel with me today.
Why Central and South America Are on My Radar
When you want to experience something completely different, but, well, if you’re honest, you don’t want to go too far away technically – then book Central or South America.
The biodiversity of Central America is surprising. Much of Belize, for example, is still undeveloped rainforest. With such extensive habitat, the wildlife is spectacular – keep the jaguars and crocodiles at a distance, but expect to be amazed by the tapirs, howler monkeys, armadillos, toucans, parrots, and coatis too.
Bottom Right: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Brazil is full of surprises, from the Amazon to iconic cities and peaceful beach towns. Beyond Rio’s famous views, you can explore the charm of Paraty, unwind in Trancoso, or spot jaguars in the Pantanal. Luxury lodges and stylish beach resorts make it easy to travel in comfort while soaking up Brazil’s rich culture and incredible biodiversity.
Bottom Right: Machu Picchu, Peru
In South America, the dramatic mountains and glacial lakes of Patagonia (crossing into Chile and Argentina) take your breath away, and if Ecuador and the Galapagos islands are still on your bucket list or if Peru’s Machu Picchu is still a must-see – book those now.
And there’s no need to rough it in the jungle or expect anything less than top-notch luxury. This is your chance to experience the laid-back joys of an estancia – consider it South America’s take on the guest ranch. Except that here you’re going to meet gauchos, the South American cowboy, drink mate and enjoy asado – the traditional open pit barbecue that’s not just a meal but a social event.
Bottom Right: Kaandela Restaurant, Panama
If you’re looking for an urban and island getaway – may I suggest Panama? Panama City is a mid-haul flight from much of the U.S. Spend a few days exploring the 16th and 17th-century architecture of the Casco Viejo neighborhood, watch the ships pass by in the Panama Canal and book a table at one of the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants.
Then, escape to Isla Secas, a private luxury resort spread out over 14 gorgeous islands. Come during humpback whale migration; it’s a spectacular spot to watch from
Your dollar goes farther in South and Central America. Let me craft a journey that goes beyond expectations.
Where Will the Next Few Years Take You?
Some trips are spontaneous and simple. Others deserve more thought — milestone celebrations, seasonal getaways, family reunions, and those dream destinations you’ve been saving for “someday.”
Here’s the truth: planning one great trip is exciting, but planning your next few years of travel is even more so. That’s where the real magic happens.
When you take a long-term approach, I can map out a smarter, more meaningful travel calendar. I can help you prioritize the trips that matter most, secure hard-to-get reservations and rooms, align with school holidays or seasonal highlights, and even take advantage of early booking perks and better airfares.
I’ll clarify your wish list, budget, and the types of experiences you’re seeking. I’ll suggest destinations you might not have considered and recommend when to go, where to stay, and how to make the most of each trip.
